School of Optometry and Vision Science

Clinician-scientist and Senior Lecturer in Posterior Eye Therapeutics at Â鶹Éçmadou, awarded her PhD thesis on the 'Multimodal evaluation of Macular Structure and Function in Age-related Macular Degeneration' at the Centre for Eye Health, Â鶹Éçmadou in 2018. She was Lead Clinician (Macula) and Integrated Care Co-ordinator at the Centre for Eye Health from 2019 to 2021 and after that joined the Brien Holden Vision Institute as Principal Research Optometrist (2021-2022). Ìý

In the four years since her PhD, she has published over 30 peer-reviewed manuscripts and has secured more than $500K in research funding. She presents regularly at national and international conferences, and has also been engaged in teaching in the School of Optometry and Vision Science, contributing to a range of courses including Advanced Ocular Disease 1, Disease Processes of the Eye 2, clinical placements for Clinical Ocular Therapy 5A/5B, final year research projects and higher degree research supervision.

Her research goals are to:

  • Enhance the early detection of ocular and systemic disease via ocular imaging, clinical decision support systems (including artificial intelligence)Ìýand novel image analysis methods
  • Measure and promote the integration of eyecare nationally with a focus on the role of optometrists in disease screening, prevention and health promotion

Ìý

Her current research areas include:

  • Chronic eye disease
  • Ocular imaging, biomarkers, and diagnostics
  • Collaborative and integrated care
  • Patient education and care adherence
