Â鶹Éçmadou Strategy:
Progress for All
Since our founding as a public university for New South Wales in 1949, Â鶹Éçmadou has remained dedicated to advancing public good. Over 75 years, amidst extraordinary global change we have endeavoured to have a positive societal impact through transformative education, innovative research and meaningful global engagement. In 2025, we reaffirm our commitment to expansive and inclusive global positive impact through our new Â鶹Éçmadou Strategy: Progress for All.
Our Mission, Vision and Values
The Â鶹Éçmadou mission is clear: to advance Progress for All globally, through transformative education, innovative research and meaningful engagement with people, communities and partners.
We envision that when Â鶹Éçmadou reaches our centenary our focus on Progress for All shines through in every aspect of our operations and interactions.
The five Â鶹Éçmadou Values in Action are the behaviours that we seek to embed in Â鶹Éçmadou’s culture. Integrity is the cornerstone of these values, supporting our students and staff to live them fully.
Our Strategic Pillars
At the core of Â鶹Éçmadou Strategy: Progress for All are nine Strategic Pillars, guiding our efforts to address critical global challenges. These pillars include five Impact Pathways, focusing on education, research, engagement, people and culture, and operational systems, alongside four Impact Focus Areas. Together, they set our priorities, define aspirations, and ensure accountability for driving societal impact over the next decade.
Â鶹Éçmadou Societal Impact Framework
Our shared, anchoring purpose and commitment to improve life on earth.
At Â鶹Éçmadou, societal impact is at our core. From breakthroughs in solar energy and infectious disease control to human rights law and sustainable solutions, our work drives progress and improves society and the environment.
Â鶹Éçmadou Strategy: Progress for All was developed alongside Â鶹Éçmadou's inaugural Societal Impact Framework.
The Framework connects us to the most pressing socioeconomic, environmental and health challenges of our time and the areas in which Â鶹Éçmadou can have unique and significant impact through four Impact Focus Areas, Cross-cutting Themes, and Societal Impact Goals.

Putting the Strategy into Action.

Â鶹Éçmadou’s 10-year strategy launches in 2025, guided by a Blueprint and delivered in three phases, starting with a transformational year. It integrates planning, reviews, and clear governance to ensure adaptability, stakeholder engagement, and sustainable progress, aligning all activities with Â鶹Éçmadou’s long-term vision.
Environmental Social Governance (ESG) Advisory Group
Â鶹Éçmadou has established an Environmental Social Governance (ESG) Advisory Group to support the University's new Strategy. The Advisory Group will further focus alignment and reporting on our environmental, social and governance goals and outcomes. Review and alignment of our investment frameworks, supply chains, policies, procedures and practices will be a priority. The Advisory Group will consult extensively with staff and students.
