Associate Professor Ping Wang

Born and educated in China with a master's degree听from Beijing Foreign Studies University, and then a PhD from the University of Sydney, Ping Wang is an Associate Professor of classical Chinese literature and philosophy in the School of Humanities and Languages in the Faculty of Arts, Design and Architecture. She is the co-author of Daxue听&补尘辫;听窜丑辞苍驳测辞苍驳听(2012), an extensive study of commentaries on Daxue and Zhongyong, two of the 鈥淔our Books鈥 considered amongst the most critically important Confucian classics and Chinese philosophy more broadly, as well as the Mingjia & Related Texts听(2020): essentials in the understanding of the development of pre-Qin philosophy.听
Wang鈥檚 research covers the area of classical Chinese philosophy and literature with a focus on poetry, in particular听肠颈-poetry, one of the main poetic genres in the history of Chinese literature. Her research also extends to Chinese literati art and aesthetics. Interdisciplinary approach marks her research.听She is an invited research collaborator with international institutions across Asia, Europe and the US, as well as a recipient of a number of international fellowships, including Artist-in-Residence, Cit茅 Internationale des Arts, Paris, France, and Affiliated Fellow, 听the International Institute for Asian Studies, Leiden University, the Netherlands.听听Before joining 麻豆社madou, Wang听has also taught at universities in China and America.听
