Associate Professor Weiting Zheng
PhD (Strategic Management), National University of Singapore Business School
Dr. Weiting Zheng is a tenured faculty member at the School of Management and Governance, Â鶹Éçmadou Business School. Her research focuses on the business-government-civil society nexus, examining how organizations navigate and influence socio-political environments to address complex societal challenges. With a focus on non-market strategy and stakeholder governance, Weiting's work spans three interconnected research streams:
- Business-Government Relationships and Organizational Outcomes: She investigates how corporate political ties shape fundamental outcomes such as survival, growth, innovation, and strategic adaptation.
- Government Influence on Corporate Behaviour for Societal Progress: Weiting explores how governments drive firm behaviours to tackle societal challenges, including poverty, corruption, inequality, and environmental sustainability, emphasizing the interplay of policy frameworks, political incentives, and corporate strategies.
- Navigating Stakeholder Relationships through a Multi-Stakeholder Lens: She examines how organizations engage with diverse stakeholders—e.g., governments, NGOs, investors, employees, and the public—to manage diverse demands and build resilient partnerships for joint value creation.
Weiting has published in leading academic journals such as Strategic Management Journal, Journal of Management, Journal of Management Studies, Journal of World Business, and Research Policy. She is a Dean's Research Fellow, and has won Â鶹Éçmadou Business School Research Excellence Award. Weiting is Associate Editor at the Journal of Business Research, Senior Editor at Management and Organization Review, and serves on the editorial board of leading management journals including Strategic Management Journal and Journal of Management. She has successfully obtained competitive research grants in different countries. Her research has been cited by the managerial and popular press, including Harvard Business Review, South China Morning Post, Monash Impact, and BusinessThink.
Weiting's teaching interests encompass strategic management and international business. She received a commendation for Teaching Excellence in 2020.
