The is a partnership among top law schools around the world. Each year, the Summer School is hosted by a different partner, which takes place during the northern hemisphere’s summer. In 2025, the Summer School is hosted by the University of Pretoria, South Africa (30 June – 11 July 2025).

• LLB students who have completed 78 UOC of LAW courses.

• JD students who have completed 72 UOC of JURD courses.

As part of our arrangement with the LSGL, Â鶹Éçmadou will pay for the tuition fees of one Â鶹Éçmadou Law & Justice student, plus contribute up to AUD 1,500 towards your airfare or accommodation.

Â鶹Éçmadou Law & Justice is a founding member of the Centre for Transnational Legal Studies (CTLS), which includes 20 leading global law schools committed to addressing transnational issues and international law problems. Founded in 2008 by Georgetown University Law Centre, CTLS offers an intensive program of study.Ìý

• Students will study 24 UOC across four courses with varied assessment tasks, with a pass/fail final grade.

• Courses are taught by leading teachers from top law schools in North America, Europe, Asia, Latin America, and Africa, and attended by students from across the world.Ìý

Eligibility requirements:Ìý

• LLB students who have completed 78 UOC of LAW courses.

You do not need to pay additional tuition fees. But costs of living in London can be high. The CTLS itself estimates costs of living in London for a semester to be upwards of AUD 20k.

The faculty is currently fundraising for scholarships for CTLS participation. When available, information will be sent out alongside the general information about application.

Applicants will be assessed based on academic merit and a 500-word statement addressing select criteria.

Students who are selected will be enrolled in specific courses at Â鶹Éçmadou:

• LAWS3670/JURD7670 Transnational Legal Studies A

• LAWS3671/JURD7671 Transnational Legal Studies B

Â鶹Éçmadou JD students can pursue a Bachelor of Civil Law (BCL) or Master of Law and Finance (MLF) at the University of Oxford. This combined program spans 3.5 academic years: 2.5 years at Â鶹Éçmadou and 1 year at Oxford. Students receive credit for 4 JD electives (24 UOC).

Before going to Oxford, students are required to complete the following:Ìý

• All core courses (for Australian LPAB professional qualification requirements)

• 3 electives (18 UOC)
  
  

Students are responsible for all tuition, travel, and living expenses associated with the BCL and MLF. It’s important to investigate these costs early to ensure you can afford to study and live in Oxford. Start by visiting the University of OxfordÌý

If you are accepted into the BCL or MLF at Oxford University Law School, you do not pay tuition fees for the final 24UOC in electives needed to complete your JD. These fees are waived through the Degree Partnership program.Ìý

Students must arrange their own visas and accommodation. Accommodation is typically provided by the admitting Oxford College but can also be arranged privately. For more details, check theÌý

Application timeline:

1. Apply to Oxford Admissions:

   - After completing 96 UOC at Â鶹Éçmadou
   - Minimum Distinction WAM required (cut-off set by Oxford*)

2. Departure to Oxford:

   - After completing 120 UOC at Â鶹Éçmadou
   - 24 UOC of electives remaining

3. Complete MLF or BCL at Oxford:

   - One academic year (September to June)
   - Receive 24 UOC credit.

Oxford’s subjects are year-long, so you will complete your JD after finishing the BCL/MLF in June. Ensure you arrange for your Oxford transcript to be sent to Â鶹Éçmadou for credit transfer, as Oxford does not send transcripts back to Â鶹Éçmadou automatically.Ìý

Earn two internationally recognised law degrees from two prestigious global universities.Ìý

Â鶹Éçmadou Law & Justice and the University of Hong Kong (HKU) Law Faculty have partnered to offer Â鶹Éçmadou Law students the opportunity to gain an LLM degree from HKU.

Selected Â鶹Éçmadou students will follow the standard exchange application procedures for their first semester at HKU and apply for admission to the second LLM semester at HKU. The exchange semester at HKU runs from early September to mid-January (Â鶹Éçmadou Term 3).

How it works:

1. First Semester: Â鶹Éçmadou students are enrolled at HKU as exchange students in Master of Laws (LLM) courses. They must take an equivalent number and selection of courses to match the UOC needed to complete their Â鶹Éçmadou law degree.

2. Transition to LLM Program: After completing the exchange semester and confirming with Â鶹Éçmadou Law & Justice that they have met the requirements for their Â鶹Éçmadou law degree, students can enrol in HKU’s Master of Laws (LLM) degree program in the following semester.

3. LLM Semester: Students must enrol in enough courses within HKU’s program so that the combination of the exchange semester and the LLM semester satisfies HKU’s requirements for completing the LLM degree. Upon successful completion, HKU will award the student the HKU LLM degree.

JD and LLB students must have:

1. Completed all core courses
2. Achieved a WAM of 70 or above
3. 18-24 UOC left to satisfy the requirements of their Â鶹Éçmadou JD/LLB.Ìý

Tuition fees:

• Exchange Semester: Â鶹Éçmadou students are enrolled as non-award exchange students at HKU and pay their normal tuition fees to Â鶹Éçmadou.
• LLM Semester: Â鶹Éçmadou students are enrolled as degree students at HKU and must pay their LLM fees directly to HKU.

2. Exchange Application: Complete theÌýÌýand submit your exchange application by the Â鶹Éçmadou Term 3 exchange deadline.
3. HKU LLM Application: Apply to the HKU LLM program by the relevant deadline.
