What is the discipline of Medicine?
The newly established discipline of Medicine aims to brings together the internal medicine sub-disciplines within the School of Clinical Medicine to lead the coordinated delivery of education within the discipline and to support research in relevant areas.Ìý
The initial focus of the discipline is to:Ìý
further develop a Foundation Steering CommitteeÌý
identify the scope for the discipline and define sub-speciality areasÌý
work towards a strategy for engaging the internal medicine sub-disciplines in the Medicine Curriculum Redesign project
quantify and standardise existing teaching within the discipline across our clinical campuses.

While newly established, the discipline of Medicine has strengths in the delivery of clinical trials and other key areas of clinical research.
The discipline brings together clinical, biomedical and epidemiological/health services researchers working across Â鶹Éçmadou Medicine & Health, including key priorities such as Cancer, Infectious Disease, Immunity & Inflammation, Neuroscience, and Cardiac, Vascular & Metabolic Medicine.
The discipline is also working across specialty areas to further develop the Â鶹Éçmadou Medicine and Health's expertise in the area of Big Data research using clinical data with our partners.Ìý
Undergraduate medicine students benefit from a broad program of teaching in internal medicine disciplines at our clinical campuses and the discipline aims to further strengthen the links between our campuses in these areas.
