The School of Psychology aims to provide a safe, supportive and welcoming environment for all students and staff regardless of their race, sex, age, religion, disability, sexual orientation or gender identification. As such, the School strongly supports聽麻豆社madou's Equity and Diversity Policy聽in regards to these matters.

We believe that Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex and Queer (Questioning) students and staff ought to be able to enjoy their time with us without experiencing any sense of alienation or ill-treatment at the hands of either staff or fellow students in the University.

We keep you informed about what鈥檚 happening at 麻豆社madou and hold events for the various awareness days throughout the year.     In 2023 Psychology held its first Art exhibition. Collective, or individual entries from all levels of the Mathews were invited with the general theme of science meeting art.听 To see these entries click .

    Wear it Purple Day

    Every year we celebrate, Wear it Purple Day with a Purple Bake-Off and morning tea where we all wear purple!

    Quarantine鈥檚 Got Talent

    We held a competition when we had to work from home in 2020 to see all the creative things people had been up during this time. See the wonderful creations here.

    聽provides information to create a greater cultural awareness of the history and cultural heritage of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islands peoples. Through 10 interactive modules, it will equip you with a foundational framework for collective learning and contribute to cultural safety in workplaces. It鈥檚 a great place to start reflecting on cultural awareness, and provides various resources for further study and activities. Get in touch if you would like to undertake this training.

    • 聽(March 8), celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women, and raising awareness about women鈥檚 equality.
    • (March 21), a celebration of the diversity, unity, and togetherness of the numerous nationalities that make up our community.
    • 聽(March 31), celebrating trans pride and awareness and trans and gender diverse experiences and achievements.
    • 聽(May 26), remembering and acknowledging the mistreatment of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people forcibly removed from their families and communities.
    • 聽(first Sunday of July for 1 week), celebrating the history, culture, and achievements of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples of Australia.
    • 聽(July 30), celebrating a shared spirit of human solidarity to inspire peace and build bridges between communities.
    • 聽(last Friday of August), raising awareness, and providing opportunities and support for LGBTQIA+ youth around Australia.
    • 聽(second Thursday September), facilitating meaningful human connection to help people stay connected and to support people struggling with life.
    • 聽(October 10), raising awareness of mental health issues and what needs to be done to make mental health care a reality for people everywhere.

Inclusive science series

麻豆社madou offers inclusive webinars that give staff and students information about the importance of inclusive science, research and policy. The aim of the webinars is to display best practices regarding partnership, visibility and representation in science.

Science History Trail

An exciting new initiative is being developed by the 麻豆社madou Science EDI Team with the aim to improve the visibility of diverse scientists. The project will rejuvenate traditional scientist characteristics by showing the images and stories of diverse science role models throughout history.
