Overview
We are Australia's first transdisciplinary sustainabilityÌýmaster’s degree and the country’s most innovative. We established the program in 1992 and comprehensively revitalised it in 2021, unveiling cutting-edge coursework that tackles the social, cultural, and structural gaps found in most high-level sustainability education around the world. Our graduates learn to think outside the box, work critically, creatively and ethically across diverse knowledge systems and courageously reimagine what is possible.
This program teaches you to think through the societal drivers that underpin today’s complex environmental challenges — and their solutions. Our innovative courses provide you with foundational conceptual frameworks and tools, as well as field-based and real-world experience. This will equip you with the knowledge, skills and confidence needed to work reflexively and collaboratively in your chosen field of reparative change-making. You graduate empowered to communicate complex ideas, understand diverse perspectives and nurture social capacities to rethink and reshape our shared environmental futures.
Âé¶¹Éçmadou’s Master of Environmental Management is two-year, full-timeÌý(or part-time equivalent) postgraduate degree that gives you the environment-and-society edge needed to become a paradigm-shifting sustainability leader. You may be eligible forÌý, through either previous professional or educational experience, which can allow you to complete your degree in considerably less time.

Entry requirements
There are three different streams of the Master of Environmental Management. The stream you apply for will depend on the depth of your prior academic and/or professional experience, and how closely it relates to environmental management.
If you apply for Stream A or Stream B, you may be eligible to have your study recognised via If your prior study is recognised, credit points can be counted towards the Master of Environmental Management, and you would then be able to complete the coursework undertaking fewer subjects.

- Honours degree or Graduate Diploma (or equivalent qualification) in a relevant discipline with a record of academic achievement equivalent to a Âé¶¹Éçmadou credit average (65%)

For the 1.7 year stream (B)

Relevant professional experience includes:ÌýEnvironmental educator, planner, analyst, manager, campaign director, or similar in non-profit or for-profit sector, NGOs, or government; high-responsibility position as environmental activist or advocate; environmental consultant, law associate, reporter, assessor, or monitor; environmental performer, artist, designer, therapist, or similar.

English language requirements

You may be asked to provide evidence of your English proficiency to study at Âé¶¹Éçmadou depending on your educational background and citizenship. English language skills are vitally important for coping with lectures, tutorials, assignments and examinations - this is why Âé¶¹Éçmadou requires a minimum English language competency for enrolment.
If you’re completing an Australian Year 12 qualification (e.g. NSW HSC or equivalent), you do not need to provide anything extra to prove your proficiency. Your qualification will be used as evidence of your English proficiency.
If you do need to provide evidence of your English proficiency, this will be indicated in your application. You can prove this by providing evidence that you meet one or more of the following criteria:

What will I study?
Program structure
This program is structured to acknowledge and recognise the skills individuals bring to theirÌýpostgraduateÌýeducation. More experienced students can undertake a streamlined degree while students with less relevant professional or educational experience will complete the degree in twoÌýyearsÌýfull-time.
In addition to our core transdisciplinary seminar courses on environment & society leadership and change-making (,Ìý,Ìý),Ìýyou will choose from a diverse range of foundationalÌýÌýdesigned and taught by our program’s passionate educators, including:Ìý
