The Industry Experience Program bridges the gap between academic learning and professional practice. This course provides you with practical experience, the opportunity to develop your professional skills, and build your industry networks.
The Industry Experience ProgramÌýcombines an internship with academic workshops and assessments to support your professional development. You’ll gain confidence to complete the assessments and feel positive about taking on future workplace challenges.
There are two ways to complete the Industry Experience Program:Ìý
Â鶹Éçmadou sourced internships: Secure a position via BusinessConnect with organisations specifically seeking to hire Â鶹Éçmadou Business School students.
Self-sourced internships: Find your own internship and register your offer with Career Accelerator.

Self-sourced placement
If you’ve secured your dream internship, you can register it to participate in this course.
To be eligible for course credit, self-sourced internships need to: 
be relevant to your degree
align with the academic term dates
offer a minimum of 120 hours of work during the term.

How to apply
To enrol in this course, you must first secure an internship. You can either self-source one externally or browse the and apply for positions that interest you.
Once you have secured an internship, submit your application on BusinessConnect. Career Accelerator will review your application and if approved, will enrol you in the course.

For students who require a visa to study at Â鶹Éçmadou; please be aware if you complete your Industry Experience Program placement outside of Australia it does not count as an in-person course and some student visas require you to take a minimum number of in-person courses each term. - Log in toÌýÌýusing your Â鶹Éçmadou zID and Single Sign On.
- Select ‘Jobs’ in the top menu.
- Using the Search tab, select Position Type > Internship: COMM2222 from drop-down menus located under the Search bar.

- Each internship is unique, so it's important to find the right fit. Tailor your resume, cover letter, and other documents to each role to boost your chances of landing the position.
- Avoid using the same resume for all applications. Customising your application documents shows organisations you’re genuinely interested and have taken the time to understand what they’re looking for.

Accepting offers
- Successful candidates will be notified at their Â鶹Éçmadou email address and have 2 business days to accept the offer via BusinessConnect. Offers that aren’t accepted by the deadline, will automatically go to the next placed candidate.
- Once you’ve accepted your internship, you’ll be directed to apply for the course.
- If you’re interviewing for positions, it’s good practice to inform other organisations you’re no longer available.
Declining offers 
- If you choose to decline an offer, contact the organisation directly via email to thank them for the opportunity. Please make sure you copyÌýcareeraccelerator@unsw.edu.auÌýinto the email.

Things you should discuss with your organisation before applying
- This academic course includes assignments and workshops in addition to the practical work at your internship.
You’re expected to have regular meetings with your supervisor, including discussions about your goals, progress, and complete a review of the experience at the end of the course.Ìý
You and your host will need to agree to the expectations outlined in theÌýÂ鶹Éçmadou Work Integrated Learning Core Terms.

- Self-sourced internships need to be approved by Career Accelerator to ensure they meet the learning outcomes for the course.

When applying and interviewing, there are key details a potential host organisation should be aware of: Ìý
- You will complete academic assignments and workshops as part of the Industry Experience Program (COMM2222), in addition to your practical work at the internship. Ìý
- You are required to complete 120 hours (minimum) of work placement during the academic term dates.
- You are required to have:
- 1 x 30-minute meeting a week with your supervisor (minimum).
- 2 x 1-hour meetings; one at the beginning and one end of your placement.
- The host organisation commits to the Â鶹Éçmadou Work Integrated Learning Core Terms.

If successful and an offer has been made, congratulations! 
- Once you secure an internship, inform your host organisation supervisor that you need to complete the course application and enrolment process.
- After you lodge your application to the course, your host organisation will:
- Be contacted by Career Accelerator to verify the position.
- Receive an email from BusinessConnect asking them to complete the WIL Agreement to approve your placement.

- Under the Work Tasks section, along with completing any required details, please attach:
- A position description of your self-sourced internship on an organisation letterhead.
- Career Accelerator: Essentials Certificate.
- WIL Core Terms Agreement:
- Review and acknowledge the Student Code of Conduct.
- Review and acknowledge the student part of the WIL Core Terms Agreement.
- SELECT to send to Organisation Contact tick box.
- Review your application and submit.

- When your application has been submitted and reviewed, your host organisation will receive an email from Career Accelerator advising them to review and confirm the details you have provided in your application.
- Upon confirmation of these details your host organisation will then be asked to review and sign the Work Integrated Learning Core Terms.

- Once submitted, your application will be reviewed by Career Accelerator, and you’ll be enrolled in the course. Please ensure you have space in your term.
- You cannot self-enrol in the Industry Experience Program.
