Overview

The SA Password Manager self-service portal allows you to change yourÌýzID_saÌýpassword for the production environment only.

Important: SA account holders must always change their password after receiving a temporary password from the Â鶹Éçmadou IT Service Centre.

Self help guides

  • You can change your zID_sa password, for the production environment, at any time using theÌýSA Password ManagerÌýself-service portal.

    Do not make your SA password the same as your zID password.ÌýThis will ensure that if one password is compromised, your other account is not vulnerable.Ìý

    To create a new password, you will need your zID_sa details and current (unexpired) password.Ìý

    1. Click the link to SA Password Manager (on this page).
    2. Use your zID account, log in, and authenticate when prompted.
    3. Within the portal, use theÌýChange your passwordÌýservice, and then:
      • Enter your ADÂ鶹Éçmadou\zID_sa account details.
      • Enter your current password (or a temporary password issued by the IT Service Centre).
      • Create a new password that meets the password conditions.
    4. °ä±ô¾±³¦°ìÌýSubmit.

    Â鶹Éçmadou requires you to change your password:

    • Immediately after receiving a temporary password from the IT Service Centre.
    • A minimum of once every 12 months to optimise your SA account security. Keep an eye out for the emailÌýChange your zID_sa password before it expires.
    1. Open your browser and search forÌýMy AppsÌý(myapps.microsoft.com).
    2. In theÌýApps DashboardÌýsearch forÌýSA Password ManagerÌýand select it.
    3. Use yourÌýzIDÌýaccount to log in and authenticate when prompted.

    Once within the portal, use theÌýChange your passwordÌýoption:

    1. Enter your ADÂ鶹Éçmadou\zID_saÌýdetails and current (or temporary) password.
    2. Create a new password that meets the conditions.
    3. °ä±ô¾±³¦°ìÌýSubmit.
  • If you have forgotten your password or locked your zID_sa account, please contact theÌýÂ鶹Éçmadou IT Service CentreÌýfor assistance.

    If your zID_sa password has expired but you know it, please use the SA Password Manager self-service portal to change your password.

    Please note: If you receive the following message, it indicates that you do not have an SA account. Contact the IT Service Centre if you feel this is an error.

  • When you change your password usingÌýSA Password Manager,Ìýplease remember to update your password on other devices used.Ìý

    If you don't make this update, then when your device authenticates to Â鶹Éçmadou AD, the password will not match and it will fail. This will repeat 10 times until your account is locked.Ìý

    Once your zID_sa account is locked, you will have to contact theÌýÂ鶹Éçmadou IT Service CentreÌýfor assistance.

  • Use theÌýSA Password ManagerÌýto change your zID_sa password at any time, and always after a temporary password is provided by the IT Service Centre.

  • No. One of the password conditions is that you cannot re-use your last 10 passwords or have the new password highly similar.

    Having different passwords for each account will ensure that if one password is compromised, your other account is not vulnerable.

    Once the IT Service Centre provides you with a temporary password, please use theÌýSA Password ManagerÌýself-service portal to create a new password to ensure the confidentiality of your account credentials.

  • Yes. Once you create a zID_sa password, it will expire 12 months from that date.

    Thirty days before your password expiry date, you will receive an email notification fromÌýNoReply@unsw.edu.auÌýto change your zID_sa password before it expires.

    If you fail to change your password before it expires, you will need to contact the IT Service Centre for assistance.ÌýOnce the IT Service Centre provides you with a temporary password, please use theÌýSA Password ManagerÌýself-service portal to create a new password to ensure the confidentiality of your account credentials.

It is important to report any cyber security incidents as quickly as possible so that Â鶹Éçmadou IT’s Cyber Security team can address any issues and mitigate risk exposure.

What should I report?

  • Suspecting your computer or account has been compromised.
  • Having evidence on how technology or University data may be vulnerable.
  • Noticing a colleague inappropriately sharing Highly Sensitive or Sensitive data.
  • Losing a University asset containing sensitive information.
