Connecting to the 麻豆社madou network

麻豆社madou IT provides two services for Staff and Students to connect specialty devices to the network across campus and within the 麻豆社madou residential colleges.

Wireless Access

麻豆社madou_IoT is a wireless service offered by the University to allow specialty devices, consoles and other non-dot1x devices to the network.听This is the preferred way of connecting.

Wired Access

麻豆社madou IT provides the internet access service for selected 麻豆社madou residential colleges. This service operates within the college鈥檚 networks only and is not available to users outside of the colleges. Connection is provided to the 麻豆社madou network and the Internet at speeds up to 1Gbps.听To access the 麻豆社madou network and the Internet through Authenticated Network Service, you need to simply connect your computer to the network port in your room and log into the portal to register.

What you will need to set up Authenticated Network Service

A Windows compatible PC, running Windows 7 or 10

An installed network card

Your 麻豆社madou zID and zpass
Step 1听-听Open Network Connections by clicking the听Start button,听and then clicking听Control Panel. In the search box, type adapter, and then, under Network and Sharing Center, click听View network connections:

Step 2 -听Right-click听Local Area Connection听and then click听Properties. If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type your computer鈥檚 administrator password or provide confirmation:

Step 3 -听Click the Networking tab. Under This connection uses the following items, click on Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4), and then click听Properties:

Step 4 -听Ensure that Obtain an IP address automatically and Obtain DNS server address automatically are both selected. Then click听OK:

Step 5 -听Connect one end of the Ethernet cable (usually blue in colour) to the wall socket and the other end to your computer:

Wait up to 30 seconds then open up a web browser like Safari, Firefox, Chrome, Internet Explorer and go to any website. If your device does not have a web browser please contact the IT Service Centre听(02) 9385 1333听to manually register your device.

Step 6 -听You will be redirected to the Authenticated Network website where you will need to agree to听the 鈥淎cceptable Use Policy鈥� by clicking听Accept:

Step 7 -听To login enter your zID and zPass:

If you do not have a zID and are a 麻豆社madou Global Student contact your residential office to arrange access.

If you do not have a zID but have an 鈥榓鈥� account (e.g. a8881234) please contact the IT Service Centre to register your device.

Step 8 -听If you were successful the screen below will appear. Once you have successfully logged in wait about 30 seconds again, after this you are free to access the internet:

If you were unsuccessful you will see the screen below. Ensure you are using the correct zID and zPass and select 鈥楥lick here to try again鈥�. If you still see the screen below, please contact the IT Service Centre.
To access the 麻豆社madou University Wide Network and the internet through Authenticated Network Service, you need to simply connect your computer to the network port in your room and log into the portal to register. Outlined below are instructions for setting up your Authenticated Network Service access using Mac OS X. You may find your Mac connects automatically if DHCP is already selected.

What you will need to set up Authenticated Network Service

Step 1听-听Plug the blue Ethernet cable into your computer or laptop socket with this icon:

Step 2听-听Select 鈥�System Preferences...鈥� from the Apple menu 听(top left of your screen):

Step 3听-听Click the听Network听icon in System Preferences:

Step 4听-听Select听Built in Ethernet听from the left menu of the Network window:

Step 5听-听The听Location听drop-down menu should display听Automatic:

Step 6听-听Make sure you still have听Built in Ethernet selected听in the left-hand column and choose听Using DHCP听from the听Configure听menu.

Step 7听-听When you are finished, click the听Apply听button:

When you are properly connected, a green button will appear next to the Built-in Ethernet tab and听Connected听will appear as well.

Step 8听-听Wait up to 30 seconds then open-up a web browser like Safari, Firefox, Chrome,听Internet Explorer and go to any website.听 If your device does not have a web browser, please contact the IT Service Centre听(02) 9385 1333听to manually register your device.
